Ah, the joys of a beautiful tablecloth. It can be the foundation for special gatherings and can make everyday meals feel special. But spills happen and fear can set in even when you have a stain-resistant coated cloth.

Don’t panic. Caring for your acrylic coated tablecloth is easy. We’re here to help with care and washing instructions to ensure your lovely tablecloth stays stain-free and looking it’s best for years to come.

How does the acrylic coating work?

Let’s start with the magic formula.  Your tablecloth has an ingenious non-stick coating that repels liquids and stains, making your life easier. We know you have better things to do than constantly washing dirty tablecloths after each messy meal.

Stain resistant tablecloths are life-savers for busy families and messy dinner parties.  Most stains simply wipe clean away.  Just be aware that the coating isn’t completely waterproof. So if you leave the stain sit too long, it will eventually work its way into the fabric. And like any superhero, it needs the right care to maintain its powers.

Wipe spills swiftly

Act fast! Fresh spills are easier to tackle than set-in stains. The quicker you get to the spill, the less chance of it getting into the fabric and leaving a mark.

Gently blot with a clean, absorbent cloth. Rinse out the cloth and then wipe over again with the damp cloth. For oil-based spills, use a damp cloth with a dash of mild dishwashing liquid but avoid using harsh chemicals.

It’s a good idea to wipe the tablecloth down with a damp cloth after each meal, just to make sure you catch any little spills you might have missed.

How to remove stains

If you don’t get to the stain immediately, it may leave a mark. To help lift suborn stains, wet the area and make a paste with gentle laundry soap like Sunlight Soap. Do this on both sides of the fabric. Wait 30 minutes and rinse under water. If the stain is still there, repeat this process and then put it in the machine to wash normally. Dry on the line in the sun as this helps to bleach out the stain.

How to wash your coated tablecloth

Your coated tablecloth doesn’t need to be washed often which makes it an eco-friendly choice. But you may want to freshen it up every three or four months.  It can be washed without affecting the coating.  Follow these golden rules:

  • Temperature: Cold or lukewarm up to 30 degrees. Hot water can damage the coating.
  • Detergent: Use a gentle detergent without bleach or fabric softener. These can weaken the coating.
  • Drying: Skip the dryer! Hang dry your tablecloth on the line. Make sure it is completely dry before folding. This will avoid mould from moisture being trapped in the tablecloth. Or better still, put it straight back on the table.
  • Ironing: Yes! If you want to remove every last wrinkle, the coated tablecloth can be ironed. Just remember, you must only iron on the reverse side. Use a medium heat iron with steam. Don’t be concerned about damaging the tablecloth as ironing can actually help reactivate the stain-resistant properties of the fabric.

European flair, effortless care

By following these simple steps, you can enjoy the beauty and practicality of your stain-resistant coated tablecloth for years to come. Remember, a little care goes a long way to make sure your beautiful coated tablecloth remains a cherished part of your home for many happy gatherings to come.
