How Is Savon de Marseille Made

Our Savon de Marseille soaps are created by the Savonnerie du Midi in Provence. The Savonnerie du Midi is one of the last remaining soap factories in Marseille that still uses the traditional expertise of a Maître Savonnier – a Master Soap Maker.

The Savonnerie has used time-honoured methods for creating France’s favourite soap for 120 years. They continue to make Marseille soaps the old fashioned way – boiled in a cauldron.

These iconic soaps have been made in this same traditional way since the middle ages. For this reason, The Savonnerie du Midi have the coverted certification of “L’Union des Professionnels du Savon de Marseille”.

Find out what makes these wonderfully versatile soaps so special in our blog post.  Check out the full range of Savon de Marseille soaps in our online shop

I just adore these soaps. The large cubes are my favourites. Soaps that are made with traditional quality and care. (Merci for the video.)
