French Affair is hiring

French Affair imports authentic French products to sell at online and at pop-up shops in Sydney.  I specialise in traditional French tablecloths, custom made tablecloths hand-made from French and Italian linen as well as Savon de Marseille soaps and gifts.

I work in the pop-up shop most days, however, I need help. I’m excited to offer the opportunity for someone to join with me to continue the growth and success of my small business.     

The Role

I’m looking for a casual retail sales person who is passionate about my products and loves working in a business associated with France. You will work in the French Affair pop-up shop at shopping centres on Sydney’s North Shore, including Chatswood Chase, Northbridge Plaza and St. Ives Shopping Village.

Your friendly smile and positive manner will immediately put customers at ease. With strong communication skills, good product knowledge and excellent customer service, you will make each customer feel special and drive sales for the business.

The Hours

This is a casual role. You will need to be flexible as your work hours may vary.  I’m flexible too, so we can work out what days suit you best. 

Subject to lockdown being lifted, you would be available to work two to four days every week from mid October to Christmas. You will occasionally be needed on the weekend, however, your allocated days will usually be during the week. We have a break for a month or so after Christmas and there’s the opportunity to continue in the role next year.

We will work together for an initial training period. Then you will work at the pop-up shop on your own. 

Your Responsibilities 

Your role is to provide outstanding customer service, be a fabulous representative for French Affair and help increase the profitability of the business. You will achieve this through the following: 

  • Open pop-up shop in the morning and finesse the display ready for trade.
  • Greet customers and make them feel welcome.
  • Answer customer’s questions by providing accurate information on products, their features and prices.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by listening carefully to their requirements and finding the best solution to meet their needs.
  • Drive sales through engagement of customers, cross selling and sharing product knowledge.
  • Keep accurate records of every sale through the POS system.
  • Manage financial transactions – either cash payments or processing credit cards.
  • Replenish stock and adjust the display as needed to ensure the pop-up shop always looks great.
  • Complete end of day summary to accurately reconcile sales and payments.
  • Close pop-up shop in the evening ensuring it has been adequately secured.
  • Provide feedback on customer concerns, product requests or other important issues.
  • Ensure you and our customers remain healthy by following our Covid-19 Safety Plan.

You will also have the following requirements:  

  • Stylish personal presentation to reflect our high quality product range.
  • Previous work experience in retail sales or in another role dealing with clients would be ideal.   
  • Ability to create an attractive retail product display
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship building skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Flexibility to work various shifts
  • Reliable car and current drivers licence
  • Must be double vaccinated.  This is a contractual requirement of the shopping centres where the pop-up shop is located.
