Every February, the little town of Menton on the French Riviera celebrates the humble lemon. The Fete du Citron attracts over 230,000 visitors to marvel at the impressive sculptures and parades.
How did this charming little town become famous for lemons? According to a delightful local legend, when they were cast out of the Garden of Eden, Eve took with her a golden fruit. Fearing divine wrath, Adam begged her to throw the lemon away. She agreed, but only if she could leave it in a very special place. They crossed mountains, valleys and plains, but nowhere pleased her. Suddenly, the Bay of Garavan appeared. The beauty of the bay, the mild climate and the luxuriant vegetation reminded them of paradise. Eve buried the lemon and this is where the town of Menton later sprang up.
You can celebrate the humble lemon and be reminded of paradise every day with this lovely tablecloth, set against a vibrant green background.
100% Cotton Teflon Coated:
What a fabulous invention! Easy care. Simply wipe down with a wet cloth when needed. The cotton fabric is treated with an acrylic Teflon coating therefore the table runner is stain repellent. It’s like magic because any spills simply bead on the cloth ready to be wiped off. Perfect for high traffic areas such as the kitchen or outdoors.
The great thing about the coating is that although there’s a light sheen, because the tablecloth is made of cotton (and not plastic or oilcloth), it still looks lovely and doesn’t stick out at awkward angles. This water-repellent cotton can be washed in the washing machine although it doesn’t need washing very often. A bonus for the environment and it saves you time and money. Ideal for everyday use.
Use a wet cloth to clean and wipe off any spills immediately. Machine wash your table runner in cold or warm water without affecting the coating. Like any fabric, the table runner may crease after washing. Just hang to dry and put back on the table. If you really want to get every last wrinkle out, use a medium temperature iron with steam. Always iron on the reverse side. Do not dry clean.
Complete the Look:
Dress your table in style. Combine with matching napkins or a bread basket for the complete look. Classic elegance to bring a touch of France to your dining.
Please be aware that while every attempt has been made to be as accurate as possible, the colours in photos are sometimes slightly different to the tablecloth, so slight colour variations may occur.
